It is one of the oldest National Parks in India which was established in 1936. Jim Corbett is the home to the endangered species of the Royal Bengal Tiger. Project Tiger was launched here in 1973.
This National Park has about 480 species of flora and fauna. The Park is spread over an area of approximately 500 sq km covering riverine belts hills, lakes, streams and grasslands.
Jim Corbett National Park is divided into 5 zones; Bijrani, Jhirna, Dhikala, Domunda and Sonanandi.

Jungle Safari is a must-do activity when in Jim Corbett. It is a very different experience. There are various types of safaris available such as elephant safari, jeep safari etc. The safari is available for specific zones. The Corbett Tiger Reserve also includes the Sonanadi Wildlife Sanctuary, which is also identified as the Sitabani Zone, but this falls outside the Corbett National Park.
There are three types of Safaris that you can choose from: the Canter Safari, the Jeep Safari, and the Elephant Safari. The safaris will help you witness the beautiful species of animals like the Royal Bengal Tiger, jackal, wild boar, Himalayan bear, elephant, barking deer, sambar deer, hog deer, Sloth, Himalayan goral and various distinct species of animals, birds and reptiles wandering in their natural habitat. The safaris happen twice a day, in the morning and the evening, and each zone has a constraint on the number of vehicles allotted within at a given point in time.
The Canter Safari is available only for the Dhikala zone. This zone is the core area of the park and the likelihood of finding the Bengal tiger is highest in this zone. Apart from the canter safari, only those visitors staying at the forest lodge in the Dhikala zone are allowed to travel the area through a jeep safari. The Safari begins at 6:00 AM and the afternoon safari begins at 1:30 PM. The costs of the safari are INR 1,500 per person for Indians and INR 3,00 per person for Foreign Nationals. The duration of this safari is approximately three hours.
The most popular choice of safari is the jeep safari. But this safari is available for only four zones excluding the Dhikala zone. One jeep can accommodate 6 people. The jeep safari starts at 6 in the morning and afternoon safari starts at 2 pm. Hiring one jeep costs INR 4,500 for Indians and INR 6,000 for Foreign Nationals. The duration of the safari is approximately three hours.
This is the best option for safari as it causes very little disturbance to the inhabitants of the area. The duration of the safari is approximately one and a half hour. Elephant safari is available for only Bijrani zone and Dhikala zone. This is an amazing option to enjoy the serenity of the jungle. This safari costs INR 3,500 per elephant. Each elephant can accommodate 4 people on it.
This is a 66ft high waterfall which is a beautiful place to go to when in Jim Corbett. This is a great picnic spot with many camps set up around it. The waterfall is surrounded by dense forest and is very serene.
The Garjia temple is situated on the top of a huge rock and the Kosi River flows beside it. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Parvati.
