Each of these was created on separate occasions and serves a distinct purpose. Jaswant Thada is a beautiful marble cenotaph monument that is also a memorial for the emperors of Marwar.
The memorial was constructed in the honour and remembrance of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II by his son Maharaja Sardar Singh in 1899 and is till date used by the Marwar Royal Family as cremation grounds.
The impressive structure is made out of intricately sculpted marble that is balanced vibrantly against the red steps that lead up to the entrance door. Jaswant Thada in Jodhpur is acknowledged as an architectural landmark and a must-see when in Jodhpur. On the steps leading up to the monument, you can find local musicians and folk dancers welcoming the guests.
The cenotaph also has a delightful garden which is beautifully maintained. Tourists really admire the complex art on the carved marbles. The garden is part of the massive Mehrangarh Fort. It has the house of famous Hall of Heroes and a temple. Mandore Garden also has a Museum which displays artefacts and old fragments.
Umaid Bhawan Palace
Umaid Bhavan Palace was built in the year 1943 in Jodhpur. It is an excellent amalgamation of captivating history and a luxurious present.
